Significant Community Tree Designation and Heritage Tree Application

Office of Community Planning and Development

The Town of Pelham is proud to support a new initiative that allows residents to nominate and protect trees on private property that hold special value to them and the broader community. Through this initiative, trees that meet certain criteria can be designated as a Significant Community Tree or a Heritage Tree, which means they will be legally protected under the Niagara Region Woodland Conservation By-law. Once designated, these trees cannot be removed or harmed without proper authorization from the Town of Pelham and/or Niagara Region.

Section 1: Nominator Information

Do you consent to have a marker placed near the tree to indicate its designation as a Significant Community Tree or Heritage Tree?

Do you grant permission for Niagara Region staff to access your property for the purpose of verifying the tree's location, condition and eligibility for designation?
