Application for Backyard Hen License

Licensing By-law N. 44-2024

Subject Property Information


 

NOTE TO APPLICANTS:


This application form is to be used by persons or public bodies wishing to apply
for a Backyard Hen License in the Town of Pelham in order to keep hens on
properties where they are not permitted by the Town’s Zoning By-law. For your Application to be considered, please be aware that your property must be a minimum size of 1 acre.  No property under 1 acre is permitted to house hens unless specifically permitted in the Town’s Zoning Bylaw.

PROCEDURE:


The following documents must be enclosed with this application:

  •  Completed and signed application form;
  •  Site Plan of the property showing all buildings and structures, including the proposed
     location(s) of the hen coop and hen run, as well as the dimensions and appropriate setbacks; 
  • If you are not the owner of the property (ie. a renter or lessee) please include a written document signed by the property owner indicating their support of this application;
  • Proof applicant is at least 18 years of age; and
  • Application fee of $100.


Complete and return this form and the required supporting material to the By- law Services
Department. Once Town Staff are in receipt of a completed form and the required material, a site
inspection will be scheduled.


All questions on the application form must be completed. If the form is incomplete or inaccurate,
the application will be returned prior to processing. If you have any questions, please contact

M.56, as amended, for the purposes of reviewing this application.
